About Transgenders

Transgender is an umbrella term for persons whose gender identity, gender expression or behavior does not conform to that typically associated with the sex to which they were assigned at birth.

Other definitions include third-gender people as transgender or conceptualize transgender people as a third gender, and infrequently the term is defined very broadly to include cross-dressers.

Many transgender people experience a period of identity development that includes gaining better understanding their self-image, self-reflection, and self-expression. The degree to which individuals feel genuine, authentic, and comfortable within their external appearance and accept their genuine identity is referred to as transgender congruence.

There are around 4000 transgenders in the state. But their issues are not dealt with. They are ill-treated, made fun of and abused.

Kerala government is yet to implement recommendations of the Supreme Court aimed at ensuring the welfare and safety of the third gender in the State

The real change would happen only when the society as a whole, starting from the family members of transgenders, become ready to accept them like any other members in the society. For such a progressive change to happen, even school curricula need to be modified to make students more sensitive to gender issues added.

Social acceptance would make a huge difference to the lives of third genders. More than 90 per cent of transgenders in different states were being forced to sex works and begging only because the society, into which they were born, did not accommodate them or gave them respect.

We Build Acceptance

We build acceptance is an awareness campaign where in interactive sessions are arranged in educational institutes to build acceptance for this community. We do an awareness session for the students and then let them interact with the representative from TG community.

We are also planning for a mega rally in Calicut for spreading the message of building acceptance for this community.

We plan to take this campaign further and help transgenders gain the recognition they truly deserve. We plan to pave way for their education and for those who cannot pursue education and for a skill development training where they will be trained in various additional revenue generation in different arenas like stitching, painting, cooking, beautician training, terracotta making etc.

The break up of the goal amount is given below 
Setting up a stiching unit for TG's with the facility of training required 2,14,000/- includes the purchase of 20 sewing machine , sewing kit, tables and chairs for the stiching unit .
86,000/- will be used for providing basic eduaction for the TG's seeking education and Training
