New Colors is a learning and social support center for underprivileged children living in and around Edayanchavdy Village, Auroville, India. Our main current ongoing project is the free After-School program. We provide a positive educational environment, where we and our volunteers help the children through: Studies and homework assistance; enriching the children with further academic knowledge; various creative art projects; just being, interacting, and playing with the children. All this widens their horizons, develops personal and social skills, and empowers themselves by having sincere adult communication. Specific objective of the New project: ( Transport for New Colors) Change the life of a child is an act of inspiration and it is wonderful that so many who are indifferent, as many feel it and give us their support. What now? We can all do together! A simple and a heartfelt idea, A project that unites us once again. Arrange a "Van" which will pick up these young students including the matured girls in the villages and bring them back at the end of each day's activities. Why do we need a Van? Because, •It is extremely dangerous to travel alone in the traffic. •The children walk a long distance to attend New Colors program. •Children can't come to New Colors in rainy days because it is not safe. •They also need to carry their bags and two liters of water which is heavy for the smaller Children. •As you know, our working hours are in the evening, so it is extremely difficult for these children to travel in the night. •We can't take the children for various academic and non-academic trips out side of New Colors because of the transport problems. The heart of the project: “The Girls” Helping human beings to live in dignity makes us feel good. Helping children build a future is rewarding but helping girls is a refund that has the flavor of justice . Let us continue to change their lives and to explain what it is, since it is a most needed projects for the "women” I give to Renana. The families let their female children to grow together with our after-school program. But it changes once these girls are matured. They are not sent to New Colors because it is dark in the evening. Traditionally they are not send alone in the dark. Their freedom to attend New Colors is cramped because of the tradition. These girls love to come here but the family situation doesn't let them. As always, in every country and in every age, men, husbands, fathers, brothers establish what women can or can not do. So, I thought and the inspiration came to me and it is clear: "We have to do something for these girls!" They are the women of tomorrow who will play the highest role in their life and in society.They are the ones that we should not leave them behind for any reason. Target Group: • Children from 1st grade to 9th grade • The tourists from Auroville • Community transporting Sustainability of the project In the day time the van will be rented which will generate some income. This money will be used for the emergency repair of the van and for the gasoline expenses. This van will also deliver water for the community and for the children.
