    This fundraiser will benefit

    500 Children

    from Kokrajhar, Assam

As the sun sets this year, let there be a new dawn for these children. They are not only deprived of material things but also of love and care. Conflicts, unequal regional development, bad medical facilities, low-quality education and absence of parental bond has all added to their misery. Many villages in Kokrajhar district of Assam continue to witness and experience abject poverty lacking basic necessities in terms of food, cloth, health, and education. These regions fall in the Indo-Bhutan border which has poor connectivity, poor healthcare facilities, and education. There remoteness has not only excluded them from the vision of development but our policymakers have also failed to provide basic necessities.

For instance, Momi Basumatary, a 13-year-old girl hailing from Samarpur Village of Bismuri area suffers from Hepatomegaly, an abnormal enlargement of liver because of unhygienic drinking water from a nearby stream. They don’t have any alternate source of clean drinking water. Her parents are daily wage labourers and getting two meals a day for 4 children is a difficult task for them.
Their stories make us wonder how unjust this world is.The only thing we all can do for them is to motivate them to dream higher and work harder. Let us help them smile and resolute to achieve something new in this new year. There are many more heart wrecking stories like Momis’ as they continue to live in their dark world.

Help us in spreading hope, joy, and a future where they can live a good life. We ‘The People’s Aid’, a charitable trust based in Kokrajhar, Assam has initiated a small step to make a little difference in their lives of misery and destitute. However, to make this a success, we lack resources and therefore WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.
