Support Budding Scientists At Rural School
Kulamua village in Majuli island, Assam had no functioning school within a 5 km radius. The Hummingbird School is the first of its kind there, built by Bipin Dhane (an M.Tech from IIT, who quit his well-paying job in Singapore to educate the children of rural Assam) with the help of the local villagers many of whom belong to the Mising tribal community.
Launched in 2017, the school now caters for children from over 26 neighboring villages with more than 220 children. They have battled devastating floods twice in this period and managed to resume classes once the monsoons were over. In just under two years, the Hummingbird School has brought about visible all-round positive changes in the community.
The children of this school are bright and quick to learn. Their enthusiasm for education is infectious.
Now, they urgently need a basic and minimal computer lab that can further their learning and development.
Funds raised in this campaign will be used to purchase around 10 computers along with accompanying tables. Though the school has more than 220 children, for the present, 10 computers are a minimum requirement.
We sincerely hope that you shall support us in this endeavor.
