Why am I fundraising?

Hello! Thank you for taking time out and reading this.

I am raising funds for my school and to make sure the children who study there have a clean and healthy environment to grow up in. I plan to raise funds to make my school in Bengaluru a better place to study. Your funds and especially the help provided by you, will help me give the 200 children a healthy and hygienic life.

Our story - 

We are a class of 26 'eight year old' leaders - to be, that study in a low income Kannada medium Government school - GHPS Pantharapalya in Nayanadahalli, Bengaluru. We come from a modest background and our parents are daily wage earners. We aim to be avid readers and leaders of our age. Our parents invest in studies, but, they cannot contribute beyond the basic tuition fees at the school. This is the reason why we need your help to help us raise funds so that we are able to enjoy the same education as the high income counterparts in our city.

My work and its impact - 

Being a teacher to these 26 amazing kids as well as to the other 180 kids that study from grade 1-7, I try and incorporate 'academic excellence', 'values and mindsets' and 'exposure and access' in their everyday learning. Each day is focused on making my kids better learners than the day before. I believe that being an effective speaker, listener, to be able to comprehend and solve societal problems is the need of the day. This is what I prepare my kids for everyday.

How will I utilize these funds - 

I aim to make my class room 'literacy - rich' where each of my kids can find a book that suits their learning level. The aim is to make ALL kids avid readers and problem solvers of our age. We therefore need a cupboard and books for the classroom. The dust from the chalk board adds to the woes of my children. Therefore need a white board along with markers for all our classrooms. Our classroom teaching model involves a lot of assessments. We therefore need a lot of worksheets for the entire term. In order to make the classroom environment a more interactive one, we have 2 projectors for the school, however, we also need a projector screen. The approximate break up of funds is as follows - 

Cupboard - 3500

Authentic Textbooks - 1500

White Board - 1000 x 7 = 7000

Markers - 1000

Worksheets (For entire year) - 4000 (Including printing, photocopying, reusing, etc)

Projector screens - 4000

Buffer amount - 500 (adjusted in any of the above)

Ground levelling - 4000

Wash Basin and water connection - 3000

Weekly cleaning of washrooms (8) - 2500/month

Water Purifier - 5000

What do I plan to do with the funds?

With the funds I raise through Milaap, I plan to get washbasins fixed, washrooms cleaned every week, get the ground leveled, get proper drainage done, get a water purifier, arrange for desks, projector screen, invest in stationery in the next 2 years that I will be with the school. I plan to make the school a much better place for not just my kids, but for the entire school and the future students.
