We are the volunteers of Zaariya - the social service club of our institute NISER (National Institute of Science Education and Research) situated in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The main objective of our club is to stimulate social responsibility amongst the youth & promote processes which are sustainable, socially inclusive & gender equitable to enable poor & marginalized communities to achieve a dignified quality of life.

One of the main projects we have been actively focussing upon is ensuring quality education for the kids residing in the slums opposite to Institute of Physics Campus in Bhubaneswar. When we started our initiative, a majority of these slum kids were out of school.  In the last two years, due to continuous efforts of our volunteers, we have been able to send 19 children to RRL school situated inside IMMT Campus, Bhubaneswar; 2 to Bal Sainik school in Gajapati Nagar, Bhubaneswar & 2 to Shaala Public School situated in Paralekhamundi, Gajapati district, Odisha. Very recently, we admitted two siblings - Tohidul & Sapura - to Nandan Kanan Govt. School, Bhubaneswar. Tohidul was a school dropout & Sapura had never attended school. Currently, we are teaching a few kids in the same slum to get them admitted to Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Among all the children whom we admitted to different schools, we are funding the education of two kids - Tehasin & Sukriya. These two kids are studying in Shaala Public School (boarding school), Paralakhemundi. Tehasin, the elder one used to work earlier in our college canteen. Currently, Tehasin is in 4th standard & his younger brother Sukriya is in 3rd standard. We need your help to pay for their fees for the term Nov 2016 to Apr 2017 & for their next academic year. Your whole contribution will go towards the payment of fees of the two children.
