Hi, this is a kind request to help me in getting back my mother back
to normal life. My mother, aged 56 had a fall last year in the month of February.
Resulting to that fall, she broke her femur, tibia and the knee. She was
operated immediately and an implant was put in the knee, tibia and femur which
is a total of three implants. The surgery was successful and she was discharged
from the hospital. On the 15^th day post her discharge, I noticed
that she had a blood soakage in her dressing and suddenly she started shivering
with very high fever. An ambulance was called immediately and my mother was
taken back to the hospital.

Upon talking to the doctor, we learnt that this might be a case of
infection post-surgery and might need a debridement. A debridement means that
the wound will be open again and washed and antibiotic globules will be put inside
the leg to avoid infection. The surgery was successful and two holes were kept
open in the leg so that bad puss could be drained out. My mother was discharged
from the hospital and until July 2018, we continued the puss removal from the leg
which was a sign that the infection was still there. This entire surgery costed
me about 9 lacs including my insurance of 2 lacs. I had to take a loan to
ensure that my mother is fine and she has no trouble.

This year since July 2018, she started getting mild fever and we
thought we should see the doctor again to ensure that the infection is not
spreading. We visited Sancheti hospital and the opinion of the doctors were to
ampute the leg which was infected. Slightly being emotional, my father and my
mother didn’t want to get the leg amputed but rather save the limb. Doctors
suggested that since we want to save the leg, they will insert a single
titanium rod instead of multiple implants. The surgery went well however on the
7th day of her recovery, my mother got a heart attack and she was brought to
the ICU totally incubated on the ventilator.

Since the time my mother was incubated, it has been 79^th
day in the ICU and her current conditions are as follows: a) Lungs collapse b) Liver
has been compensated c) Total immunity loss d) Left limb amputed but not drying
due to infection e) Daily fever of up to 101 degrees f) Mental issues due to
prolonged ICU stay g) Hearing loss due to prolonged antibiotic use h) Very low
blood pressure and on dependent on medication for increasing BP i) High heart
rate up to 120.

It has been 3 months now in the hospital and the total bill has
crossed 21 lacs. I had an insurance of 4 lacs which has been exhausted. 10 lacs
paid from savings and my PF also exhausted. To save her life, she will require another
two months of hospital stay with rehab which might require another 15 – 20 lacs.
I request all your help to help me in this financial crisis. I am really trying
hard to get my mother back to this world and I hope God and you all support me
in this endeavor.
