Bal-LOT is an initiative founded by Zubin Berry, a Grade 10 student at Sanskriti School, New Delhi, that seeks to imbibe knowledge of and willingness to participate in democracy in high-school level students in Delhi-NCR.
Using an original curriculum, constitution and other resources, Bal-LOT seeks to inspire children (Bal) to become Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT). By creating responsible citizens aware of their rights and the apparatus of the state, we hope to facilitate better governance not just in the classrooms and hallways today, but in streets and courtrooms tomorrow.
Bal-LOT is now raising funds to establish political libraries in NGO and government schools across India. We have come up with a unique list of books relating to democracy and politics, which we will be donating along with our wider student governance kit to help students of all ages and from all backgrounds begin their democratic learning journey.
