Vrutti in partnership with GREEN Foundation & Swasti is working in 45 villages of two Hobilis namely Kodihalli and Marlavadi in Ramanagara district of Karnataka.
The people in these villages are dependent on agriculture, the majority of which is rainfed. With the little irrigation available mulberry is grown for silkworm rearing. With the cocoon markets not operating the people have been affected and wage labour has reduced to a great extent. A large number of people go for daily wage labour to nearby bigger places. The lock down has put a close to their income. Many people have migrated to Bangalore for small jobs and have returned to the villages due to the closure.
There are nearly 800 families with no source of income to tide over this period even for essentials. The teams have identified 85 most vulnerable among them who are old, widowed, destitute, homeless and those living alone to be supported on first priority.
Since Vrutti has its team in the working villages they will be able to ensure delivery of essentials required. Please support these 800 families with a Food and Essentials kit for Rs.1200 each. This will be of a great help to them in this time of distress.
