A little over a year ago, two of Pacho’s siblings were rescued from the streets and taken to a foster home. They were terrified little kittens and wouldn’t come out of hiding. Two days later, Pacho was rescued and taken to the same foster. He changed everything for his siblings. Being the trusting, happy and playful cat he was, he was able to get his siblings out of their shells in hardly any time. That’s Pacho.. a kind, naughty cat. He brings tremendous joy to everyone around.
Pacho was adopted into a loving home and he’s now little over a year old..but we are afraid he’s dying. Pacho started getting very sick three months ago. He hardly ate, he was lethargic and slept most of the time, the spark in his eyes was missing.
We’ve been to five different doctors but none of them have been able to diagnose what he has. Every possible test was run – blood (CBC), urine culture, liver and kidney function, ultrasound, PCR, surgery for a suspected tumor, biopsy – and some of these tests have been run multiple times. Despite this, there is no confirmed diagnosis. These are some opinions from our vets
- Suspected FIP
- Tumors – he was even operated on because it was suspected he had a tumor. This turned out to be multiple swellings of the lymph nodes in his stomach region but no tumor was found. While very unwell, Pacho had to also endure the pain of surgery and recovery for two weeks
The closest diagnosis is now FIP but unfortunately no confirmed treatment for FIP is available except for an experimental drug that is known to have cured cats with this fatal disease.
Today he’s being given nine different medicines a day. He still barely eats and has no energy. His weight in three months has gone from 3.4 to 2.5 kgs. He’s become frail and weak and we are afraid we are losing him.
This drug could help save his life. We are fundraising to be able to procure this drug for Pacho. It is our only hope. The treatment lasts 84 days and costs INR 400000 / USD 5300.
We thank you for reading Pacho’s story. We hope you will find it in your hearts to donate or even share our message. We will be forever grateful for any donations we receive. We have faith that Pacho can make a full recovery and we want to do everything we can so Pacho can live a full, healthy life.
