My name is Vikash. I am a 44-year-old father of two children, ages 11 and 8, from Sambalpur, Odisha. A Family's World Turned Upside Down:
Just five years ago, I was building a future for my family, working in Bangalore with a decent job, and contributing as a proud taxpayer.Our family of 4 was leading a perfectly fulfilling life But in 2019, our lives took an unexpected turn when I started facing breathing difficulties during COVID-19 pandemic. My situation worsened and I could not continue work. Hoping to recover and resume work, I stayed in Bangalore for 2 years but later financial burden forced us to return to our hometown, a move that was more heartbreaking than hopeful.
A Shattered Dream:
In March 2021, I began experiencing severe breathing difficulties. After agonizing tests and a painful biopsy, I was diagnosed with ILD at SGPGI Lucknow. The disease has progressively confined my life to the boundaries of medical appointments, oxygen support, and helplessness. Despite continuous treatment across premier institutions like AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Naruvi Hospital Vellore, my condition has deteriorated.
As I watch my children play, unaware of the gravity of my struggle, my heart aches with the fear of missing out on their lives. Their innocent smiles are my strength, but the thought of leaving them before they blossom is unbearable.
A Final Hope: Lung Transplant:
In April 2025, doctors at CMC Vellore delivered a heartbreaking conclusion: my lungs are failing. The only hope to extend my time with my beloved family is a lung transplant, a complex and costly procedure, but my only lifeline.
The Financial Mountain:
The estimated cost for the transplant and subsequent care is over ₹60 lakhs. Striped of work since 2019 and my savings depleted me and my family were somehow managing with close relatives and friends Financial help . But now to raise this huge amount, people like you only can turn the die situation around .
