The recent ASER report ’23 tries to capture the aspirations of youth. Young minds envision themselves as teachers, doctors, nurses, police officers, engineers, and more. Each child represents a promising tomorrow and a dream in the making. 

However, every dream requires nourishment to flourish. Yet, some struggle to access even basic necessities like safe drinking water.

We have identified 9 government schools in Vatika (Jaipur district, Rajasthan) where children are compelled to consume contaminated and unhealthy water with TDS levels exceeding 2000 — four times higher than the accepted norms. According to Rekha Kumari (Headmistress, Govt Primary School, Rajarwalo Ki Dhani), due to poor water quality, the children's frequent illnesses are adversely affecting their fundamental physical health and growth.

On account of geogenic fluoride contamination and harsh climate conditions, the state of Rajasthan requires additional support to ensure access to safe drinking water. 

For over a decade now, Naandi Water has been providing safe drinking water in 690+ villages with direct partnerships with Gram Panchayats (local governments), through our Community Water Centers (CWCs). We follow strict quality procedures to ensure that safe drinking water, adhering to BIS 10500 norms, reaches our end users. Through the generous support of donors, we also operate a School Water Program, enabling schools to access water from our CWCs for less than ₹ 1 per child per day. Moreover, our School Water Program conducts WASH (Water, Hygiene, Sanitation) awareness sessions for students, empowering them with knowledge about safe water and hygiene practices, thereby reducing the risk of preventable diseases.

By the time the new academic year begins, we aspire to provide 2580 students at 9 schools in Vatika with access to 100% filtered and purified drinking water, alongside essential WASH awareness sessions.
