Thambukutira N Shanthi is a farmer and widow who lost her husband Naniyappa Kodava to cancer. She has two children. They are residents of Kodagu district in Karnataka. Their house was affected by the 2018 floods in which many people lost their lives and homes in Karnataka and Kerala. Since the house didn't fall and was only damaged the family didn't get funds for that.
During the 2018 flood, Naniyappa was undergoing treatment for cancer. Due to a lack of medical facilities, he was shifted to a better hospital. But despite medical and monetary efforts, he did not survive. His daughter’s wedding was postponed due to the bad state of their house.
Currently the house is dilapidated due to the natural disaster and might fall any day. Before that, Shanthi and her children need to build a roof over their heads to protect them from the natural elements. The monsoon rains are increasing in frequency and strength. But the house is not in a state to withstand the weather. As of now, they need at least 3 or 4 lakhs more. (A rough estimate of the fund utilisation breakdown, inclusive of sand, cement, roof, door, labour, etc., for a similar basic house which can withstand the rains in the same taluk is given below)
We request people to donate towards her cause and help finance her house. Her bank account has been directly linked to this Milaap campaign, so the funds will go to her.
