The overnight announcement of Lockdown affected the daily bread earners, migrant workers, building and construction workers, aged and widows, domestic helpers and auto drivers, and many more in the worst ways by disabling them all to even arrange a time meal and other essentials in a day.
However, with COVID-19 affecting the everyday economy, the 400 or so people who rely on these daily wages are struggling in spite of the government’s stimulus.
We are trying to buy minimum groceries for these families to help them sustain until we are all safe. We all know that the Covid-19 situation is slowing blowing up before our eyes and it's crucial to step up and support the Daily Wage Earner who has been hit the hardest.
They migrate, work as laborers in hazardous stone quarries and mines. As India fights its battle against Corona Virus, the marginalized are in a state of destitute and many have reached out to us for help.
The Daily wage-earners earn their daily wages from small businesses. However, with COVID-19 affecting the everyday economy, the 400 or so people who rely on these daily wages are struggling in spite of the government’s stimulus.
Due to the lockdown, most of them are unable to feed their families and are in dire need of resources. We have planned to raise funds to offer groceries and vegetables to them.
Based on the funds received, every month we would pack the packages based on the funds received and deliver those through our local volunteers. One package would consist of:
1. Rice - 3 kg
3. Edible Oil - 1kg
4. Sugar - 1kg
5. Tea - 0.2 kg
6. Pulses (Toor Daal) - 1 kg
7. Salt - 1 kg8. Egg - 1 dozen
9. Soybean - 1/2 Kg
10. Potatoes - 5 Kg and Onions - 1 Kg11. Dettol Soap - 2 12. Marie Biscuit - 1 packet
13. Muri - 1 Kg
