The Asha Deep Street-to-School initiative has become MFT’s most well-known project in the city. These street schools literally take education to the doorsteps of children who otherwise would be out of the formal education system. The thirty-four centres are run on footpaths, under flyovers, in slums, etc. Close to one thousand children are enrolled in Asha Deep centres that run for an average of 2 to 3 hours daily. Smart uniforms, shoes, school bags, etc. are provided to ensure that children indeed take pride in being a part of these "schools.”. Nutritious snacks are given every day, and an effort is made to ensure the all-round development of these children. Saturdays are devoted to extra-curricular activities; painting and arts and crafts are encouraged and all festivals as well as national day are celebrated
All Asha Deep children are also enrolled in regular schools, and selected bright students are specially coached at the Asha Deep Mentor-Sponsor Initiative in Sursagar.
