    This fundraiser will benefit

Students at the HAQ Centre for Child Rights

    from New Delhi, Delhi

Tax benefits for INR donations will be issued by HAQ: Centre for Child Rights

The world is becoming an increasingly confusing place to navigate without an education in English. Unfortunately such an education is accessible only to the privileged sections of the society. This puts people coming from marginalised communities at a great disadvantage by making it unfairly difficult for them to secure good employment, receive higher education, or do as little as read medical expiry labels.

With the objective of addressing this often ignored issue, I started project PEnPAL. An initiative seeking to promote Practicing English and Pedagogical Approaches to Letter-Writing, PEnPAL aims to help children in Delhi-NCR by providing them with the resources they need to have a chance at learning English and improving their lives. To streamline this process of learning and to impart better knowledge, I also developed a designated resource called: the PEnPAL curriculum.

The money raised with your support will be utilised to conduct interactive and engaging workshops and pen pal programs with a number of over 40 students at the HAQ Centre for Child Rights to facilitate a greater understanding of everyday spoken English, supplemented by practical application of the acquired knowledge through letter writing. We will also be distributing printed copies of the curriculum amongst the children, along with other required resources such as stationery items, books, notebooks, and the like.

According to our estimates, the printing and buying costs of these resources, coupled with the expense of the workshops and other programmes will be about Rs 1,200 per child. It is thus that we urge you to help us raise at least fifty thousand rupees in funds, so that there is no delay when it comes to the future of these children.
