Hello! I am Manya Khemka, a Grade-12 student at The British School, New Delhi. The numerous paradigm shifts that the COVID-19 pandemic brought about are experiences that all of us, regardless of where we reside, are familiar with. I would like to draw your attention to one such change that I was actively drawn to - the tremendous transitions within the arena of education. Gone were the days of routine that had them eat a quick breakfast before catching the bus to school. Instead, they sat in front of their computers or phones, prone to more screen time than is good for them, and faced with a screen rather than a space. Needless to say, this would have had marked effects on various aspects of their learning, their skills, and their lives.
One such effect that has been observed is a significant decrease in attention span and memory, as it pertains to both adoption and retention. A considerate post-COVID world is one that would account for this toll, and alter its pedagogical approaches accordingly. Project LearnClusive aims to do just that. Rooted in research on post-COVID students, LearnClusive aims to introduce new teaching methods and training for instructors to ensure nobody gets left behind. These include targeted research, the development of novel learning products, a teaching program to guide instructors, and an activity book to increase immersive and engaged learning.
Learnclusive intends to enhance present learning techniques into more comprehensive ones through efficient and organized interventions. The educational programme was created specifically to equip educators, children, and adults with the required tools. These one-of-a-kind and innovative sets of tools support in the implementation of alternative learning methodologies, as well as in providing resources to assist children meet developmental milestones and adults achieve significant milestones in their quest for a better life.
Alternative educational techniques have been shown to be beneficial in developing fine motor skills, social skills, problem solving skills, along with other capabilities. Therefore, Learnclusive was established with the aim of ensuring that individuals are provided with access to these essential developmental goals in combination with quality education.
LearnClusive has partnered with Delhi-based NGO, the Prajna Foundation, as their mission of education and accessibility is one that aligns closely with the project’s. Prajna Foundation began their work in 1994, and has now been working tirelessly towards community development for the past 26 years, having worked with approximately 18,00,000 kids till date. The goal amount of this fundraiser is INR 1,00,000 — the proceeds from which will be donated to the foundation to aid them in their admirable ongoing work delivering quality education to students from underserved communities in this post-COVID world.
The fundraiser is my effort to give back to the community and ensure that the learning landscape of the present day alters to accommodate the post-pandemic needs. Even the tiniest of contributions can help!
