SAE Collegiate Club at MCE was started in 2009 and is known for conducting various events and participating in SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) events like SUPRA, BAJA, MEGA ATV, and others. With this rich legacy, students of MCE have moved forward to participate in REEV (Range Extended Electric Vehicle) competition. It is an intercollegiate design and fabrication of hybrid electric vehicle competition conducted by SAE INDIA.
Teams of students from various Engineering colleges across the country would design and build a single-seater hybrid electric vehicle. The team is composed of students from all the branches of engineering. The vehicle has both Traction Motor and IC Engine with a series configuration.
The Goal of SAE India’s REEV competition is to design, build and study various parameters involved in the design of the hybrid electric vehicle. The concept of REEV was first designed by General Motors technical centre,  India and it was presented at 37th FISITA,  World Automotive Congress in October 2018. In the same year, the REEV program at MCE was started by an enthusiastic team of 30 students across all branches. The students of MCE completed the virtual round  in February 2019.
In 2021, a new team, ‘Green Torq MCE’ from all the engineering branches of MCE was formed to taking  part in SAE INDIA  REEV  second edition being conducted in 2022. The team has registered with the help of generous financial support from our 2001 batch alumnus from the E&C branch, Mr. Manohar Srikanth, a Research Scholar at MIT, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
Green Torq MCE has completed all training and certifications in Industry-sponsored Software such as MATLAB & Simulink, Siemens NX, Dassault Simulia, IPG Carmaker, Autodesk Fusion 360, Altair HyperWorks. Moreover, our team was provided with two industrial mentors from GM.TCS and VOLVO. With this bequest and enthusiasm, the team took part in REEV virtuals in April 2022 and won “First Position in Vehicle Dynamics, Noise Vibration & Harshness and Ergonomics” and two individual awards being “Best team Captain Award” and “Distinguished Student Presenter” were also won the team.
The team has stepped forward to start fabrication of the vehicle indigenously at MCE and estimated that the cost for that would be approximately 10.5 Lakhs, which will be utilized for procurement of components, fabrication of parts, and assembly. College facilities will be utilized for fabrication and bench testing of the components.
In this regard, we seek financial support from the humungous Alumni of MCE to foster your juniors. This is particularly utilized for the procurement of components for building the  REEV’s hybrid electric vehicle. Also,  kindly support us to fabricate/manufacturing a few components for the vehicle in your industry.
