On April 14, 2024, while traveling, she was struck by a bus which subsequently ran over her. The accident caused severe physical trauma, leading to multiple fractures, a colon rupture, and internal organ dislocation. Initially, she was receiving ICU care and ventilation at AMRI in Kolkata. Each day, her internal injuries manifested further, leading to significant blood loss and tissue infections in her legs. The bus tyres caused severe damage to her pelvis and lower limbs.
Until now, her family has spent almost INR 42,00,000 at AMRI hospital using their savings and crowdfunding funds. Due to a shortage of funds, they had to bring Sreejani home and arrange all the necessary hospital amenities there.
Despite these efforts, the family still needs a substantial amount of money for further medications and surgeries. Sreejani's case is unique and demanding, but she is showing signs of improvement. However, we urgently need more funds to continue providing her with the necessary treatments. The hospital has given an additional estimate of INR 16,50,000 for further surgeries.
