    SPANDANA

    from BANJARA HILLS,TELANGANA

"Every time I go to see her in the ICU, I hold her hand and talk to her, but she just looks at me for a moment and within seconds, her eyes close. I call out to her, but she just lies on the bed. It crushes my heart every time I look at her. She can't even breathe on her own, and all I can do is watch on helplessly. I have nothing left to save her. Every day I pray to God that my daughter is saved from this fatal disease." - Sagar, father

Just when she started going to school, little Spandana suddenly fell terribly ill

Watching their daughter grow up gave Sagar and Bharathi immense happiness. Spandana is their first child and despite hardships, Sagar always strived to provide his daughter with the best. In June, as they dropped her off to school on her first day, they couldn't help but feel proud.

But just a few months after that, little Spandan was diagnosed with dengue and severe pneumonia. She also suffered a cardiac arrest before reaching the hospital and is completely bedridden.

Spandana before her health started deteriorating

Spandana’s health started deteriorating suddenly. She started having a fever. Sagar took her to a hospital nearby and after a few tests, she was diagnosed with typhoid, but even the medicines didn't help her. Spandana's fever was relentless and she used to vomit blood every now and then. Every time she urinated, there was blood.

“ She used to be so excited to go to school and would come back home and tell me everything that happened in the day. She loves playing outside with the children in the neighbourhood and was always cheerful. But suddenly, my healthy child was overcome by weakness and within days, she was bedridden. I've done everything possible to help her recover from this condition, but it's just getting worse with each passing day. Now she is battling for life in the ICU. She’s too little to go through such terrible pain.

Spandana is suffering from severe dengue and pneumonia, only continued treatment will save her

When Spadana’s condition was worsening, Sagar took her to Hyderabad where she was diagnosed with severe dengue and pneumonia. On the way to the hospital, she suffered a cardiac arrest which further deteriorated her condition. Now, she’s unable to breathe because of excess fluid in her lungs that needs to be removed at regular intervals. Her liver is enlarged, which does not allow her to eat anything and she gets unbearable pain in her stomach. She needs to undergo prolonged treatment along with excess fluid removal process to recover from this fatal condition. She needs to stay in the PICU for 3 more weeks to survive.

I get to see her only once or twice a day and leaving her in the ICU all alone is the hardest thing for me. All I want to do is hold her in my arms and comfort her. My daughter is at death’s door, and I'm running out of time to save her. ”  - Sagar, father

Even after selling the only piece of land he owned, Sagar can't save his daughter's life

Earning a meagre income of Rs 2,500 per month, it’s been very difficult for Sagar to look after his pregnant wife and his little daughter who's fighting for her life in the ICU. He sold his land and took a loan of 3 lakhs for Spandana’s treatment. He is now neck deep in debt and has exhausted all the money he has. Sagar is now at a dead end and can't save his daughter without help.

“ Nothing more than my daughter’s health matters to me now. I have sold the only piece of land that I have and took a huge loan to save my daughter from this fatal disease. I can't be with my wife when my daughter is battling for life. I do not want to lose my daughter and I’m even willing to fall at anyone’s feet to help save my daughter.
