Somdutta Bhowmik is admitted to the ICU ward of Private Hospital Kolkata fighting a Septic shock.
Somdutta was diagnosed with a Third-stage Low-grade Carcinoma in August 2022 and she was supposed to undergo a major surgery to eliminate her cancerous tumours on the 16th of September 2022. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, her condition was found to be fatal as her body had been contaminated internally by bacterial excretion from a ruptured intestine. The unsuccessful operation turned her into ventilator dependency with multiple organ failures. She is currently battling a Septic shock as a result of Septicaemia/Sepsis (blood poisoning by bacteria).
Until now, we have spent about Rs. 12,00,000, which we have arranged from savings and loans. As things are turning out - urgently, we will require at least Rs.30,00,000 more to meet the hospital expenses. She is fighting this battle every single day, so please extend financial assistance to let her win this battle and come out of this extremely critical situation. We hope to see her stable and conscious so that we can take her back home after which her cancer treatment can begin.
Somdutta is a Social Science student at the TATA Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and previously she completed her Engineering degree in the field of Information Technology. Somdutta and her long-term partner Aniket vowed in a wedlock on January 2022. She had served the social and educational sector for more than three years, while working with Vikramshila Educational Resource Society, Kolkata. Mimi, as we fondly call her, is the only child of her parents and is one of the youngest in the family.
