I am Priya Jain and I am raising funds for the treatment of my brother-in-law Shitanshu Saumya (Age 41) who has had 80% lung damage due to Severe Covid-19 Pneumonia and Severe ARDS with Type II respiratory failure. We had him admitted initially at Prayas Hospital, Patna on April 27 after his oxygen levels came down to 55-60. He was on Bi-Pap support for a few days in this hospital but was later admitted at Mediversal Hospital, Patna on May 2 where he was put on NIV support in ICU. His condition deteriorated further and was kept on ventilator support since 8th May 2021.
Since almost 80% of his lungs have been damaged by now, so he has been recommended to undergo ECMO treatment at KIMS Hospitals Hyderabad. He may even need a lung transplant if ECMO treatment doesn't heal his lungs. ECMO treatment is at least 30-45 day treatment depending on the rate of healing, and costs around 2 lakhs/day. The total costs at KIMS Hospital may go beyond Rs. 1 crore.
We have already somehow managed (from within our family, relatives, and friends) expenses of Rs. 40-45 lakhs on his treatment so far at Patna and on the air ambulance that airlifted him to Hyderabad on May 14, 2021. We have exhausted all our savings for his treatment so far, and now we are in dire need of additional funds so that his treatment at KIMS Hospital is taken care of.
