Shankari Roy (76) tested positive for COVID in the last week of May and is still hospitalized with severe post COVID complications which includes a serious urine infection, kidney malfunction and to top it all severe rectal bleeding for which she needs blood transfusion once a week on an average. She is also suffering from severe depression which is making the recovery process all the more difficult.

Having lost their only son to cancer when he was only 23 and with all their life savings gone towards his treatment, her husband Mihir Kumar Roy (the sole earning member) had to work till the age of 78 to make ends meet when he was diagnosed with dementia and became bed ridden and dependent on his wife for his daily needs.
