Charles, who is an alumni of NIT Calicut(2002), was diagnosed with stage 4 gallbladder cancer in Oct'22. It's been a year and three months since he is dealing with toxic chemotherapies and taking many supplements. He has already taken two lines of chemotherapies and one oral chemo. Things were stable till Aug'23. In Sep'23, his cancer started spreading and his common bile duct was blocked due to which he had to undergo the procedure of PTBD to place a stent to clear the bilurbin. He started having a constant abdominal pain after that and was mostly on bed due to that. In Nov'23, we discovered that he has developed blood clotting which has converted in severe deep vein thrombosis. This has caused swelling in his both legs and in one hand. Recently, he has developed edema( condition where your body is filled with fluid). Now he has cancer, edema, ascites, clotting and constant pain to deal with. He started the treatment in Bangalore, then we moved to Bhopal so that he can stay close to his family. Recently our Bhopal doctor decided not to give any further treatment due to his poor health(he is weighing only 43kgs) which broke our heart as we are not losing the hope yet. We decided to give ourselves another try with Dr Mandeep Singh Malhotra from CK Birla Hospital as he practices integrative oncology(Treating patients with alternate therapies along with chemotherapies). Currently he is being treated under him. He has recommended many tests and medicines which are very expensive. We are trying everything because we still have hopes. We also want to dendritic cell therapy(to boost immunity to fight cancer) which will cost us 6 lacs for six injections. We have already paid around 10 lacs for the treatment and tests and medicines within a month. These medicines not only include allopathy medicines but also natural supplements, ayurvedic medicines, and homeopathy medicines.
He is taking around 20-25 supplements, two pain killers, and many herbal drinks everyday. Plus, Delhi doctor has started fresh chemo and awaiting his report from Greece to decide the next course of action. My husband is facing it with all his strength so that he can live his life in some village and help cancer patients with his learning journey.
I am an alumni of IIMC(2013) and Kumoun Engg College(2004) and I had to resign due to my commitment towards his health. I have to do a lot of research to find something that will work on him. Unfortunately, we could not take any critical care insurance as we never anticipated this.
We are looking to raise 60 lacs so that we can get the best possible treatment in coming month. Your kindness has taken us this far and we are confident that this shall pass too and we will come out of this soon.
