The following is the brief history of her cancer occurrences:
1st time detection:
She was diagnosed with infiltrating duct carcinoma, Grade II of right breast cancer. Had to undergo surgery twice to remove the lump. Post which she received 6 cycles of chemotherapy followed by 16 sessions of radiotherapy. The total duration of treatment was 7 months.
2nd time detection:
She was yet again diagnosed with infiltrating duct carcinoma of the right breast. This time it was Grade III. Her entire right breast had to be extracted since there were 2 lumps, surgery was required which was followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy. During this, she was required to undergo another surgery for chemo port insertion, because of the issues in locating the veins for intravenous (damaged due to the earlier chemotherapies). However, the port got infected, and it had to be removed and the pus pocket was drained. The total duration of treatment was 7 months.
All the above course of treatment took a great toll on us financially and physically. She was not medically covered, still, we managed somehow with difficulty.
Current situation (3rd-time detection):
She has been tested positive for metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma of the right cervical lymph node, Grade II (in a k/c/o right CA breast). Since the veins have been already damaged due to the previous chemotherapies, this time to administer chemo, she had to undergo chemo-port insertion surgery yet again. Her treatment comprises 12 cycles of chemotherapy and 21 cycles of Herceptin administration followed by radiation. The total duration of the treatment is 11 months.
I don’t have a steady income or pension flow now and have exhausted most of my savings. The overall estimated cost of treatment is 9 lakhs. I hope with the help of Milaap’s platform, the required funds can be arranged for the immediate ongoing treatment and necessary care for my wife.
