    Sankita Kundu

    from Kolkata, West Bengal

Hi, This is Sankita Kundu, a student just like many of you reading this post of mine. A few weeks back my father tested positive for the RTPCR COVID-19 test. Being from a financially unstable household, where my father earned a monthly income of Rupees Ten Thousand, we  did feel a heavy weight down our shoulders, as I witnessed my father's health deteriorate.
With change of medication and pranayam I saw a tiny ray of hope. My father was responding to the new medicines, and did get notably better. However, after a day or two hell broke. He kept throwing up and his oxygen saturation dropped significantly, we rushed to RG KAR Medical College, at the middle of the night. No beds in COVID ward were available. I skittered around in the dark campus looking for the Superintendent's office. After continuous pleading and requesting they did setup pipeline oxygen for my father, without a bed. As dawn broke, my father was assigned a bed of a patient who succumbed to the novel coronavirus that night. My heart kept on sinking.
After a week of treatments, and with the least amount of care, my father was dismissed from the hospital. Nevertheless, we knew his condition was not stable. Within a day, he had to be rushed back to RG KAR Medical College. After which it was a maze of tests and reports, and how his health was degrading. The doctors of RG KAR Medical College advised me to shift him, since procedures will be delayed in a government hospital. I knew in my heart that he had to receive the treatment, our financial state could not be a barrier.
I called up my cousin begging for help. He paid me the initial Rs. 25,000/- for my father's admission in UMA MEDICAL RELATED INSTITUTE, where my father's Endocrinologist was willing to get him admitted with only a Rapid Covid test report that declared his results negative.
A college friend of mine called me, asking for my gpay details for getting any possible help. I will be eternally grateful to the family of RCC Institute of Information Technology, for being my strength in this state of my helplessness.
To aid all of you who donated to save my father's life, I am attaching all the test reports and bills for your better understanding. https://drive.google.com/folderview...
Yesterday, the doctor reported that the dialysis procedure will need to be repeated. Though presently his treatments for his heart and lungs will begin. The infection caused due to covid has persisted. Due to my weak financial condition the doctor has advised me to shift him to a hospital where the Swasthya Sathi card will be accepted, but that cannot be done till he stablises. No hospital will also admit him till his RTPCR report for COVID-19 comes in. Also, I do not have the heart to sign a bond for the  purpose of shifting him to another hospital just due to our financial condition.
Each and everyone of you who has looked out for me I will be indebted to you, but I need your help for a bit longer. I hope it isn't too much for me to ask. I do solemnly promise you, I will find a way to continue his future treatments on my own ability, but I will not be able to do so without your help at this moment.
A simple word of thanks will never be enough. Yet, once again Thank you.
