My name is Purba Chakraborty. My father, Sakti Pada Chakraborty, is more than just a parent; he's my hero, my guiding light, and my best friend. He has raised me single handedly since I was twelve, when my mother passed away.
His unwavering optimism, kindness, and strength have inspired me throughout my life. Now, it's my turn to be there for him in his greatest time of need.
Papa was diagnosed with advanced stage Lung Cancer in October, 2024. Our world was turned upside down, but his spirit remained unbroken. Through countless hospital visits, chemotherapy sessions, and painful sleepless nights, he's shown incredible courage. Despite the challenges, he continues to smile, inspiring everyone around him.
Medical expenses have put a significant strain on our family's finances. Papa has been unwell since August, 2024 and we had to change several doctors, visit plenty of hospitals, get plenty of expensive tests done including several biopsies and bronchoscopy (endobronchial ultrasound) to get the diagnosis behind his excruciating chest pain. We've exhausted our savings, and the burden is growing. Doctor has said that he has to start immunotherapy and targeted cell therapy as the cancer is at an advanced stage along with chemotherapy. The treatments are extremely expensive. That's why I'm turning to this fundraising platform, hoping to alleviate some of the financial weight and ensure Papa receives the best possible care.
