Sahaja Swasahaya Adivasi Mahila Sangha’s appeal  to raise ₹ 1,60,000 for setting up their community solar ragi processing unit.”*Beeratammanahalli haadi is a small tribal hamlet in Hunsur taluk of Mysore district, Karnataka. It has 50 families belonging to Soliga, Jenu kuruba, and Yerava tribes. It is the center point for many other tribal settlements comprising a population of more than 2500 people. While few of them have got houses, water facilities, etc from the government; livelihoods and jobs are still not in reach for many of the tribals in this region. They mainly are into agriculture and migrate to nearby coffee estates in Coorg to work as daily wage labourers and earn their living. Since ragi is grown widely in this region and all of them have to walk 6-7 km for the nearest flour mill with no transport available “Sahaja Swasahaya Adivasi Mahila Sangha “ a women self-help group has been wanting to set up a solar ragi processing unit in their place. The self-help group wants to set an example of being compassionate and conscious of having an eco-friendly, renewable energy unit, the self-help group wants to set an example, says Lakshmi secretary of the SHG.With the intent to become self-reliant and earn their livelihood through this social enterprise” Sahaja Swasahaya Adivasi Mahila Sangha “ is looking for help in raising funds for the Solar Ragi processing unit which costs around ₹5,00,000 /-
To establish the complete ecosystem including energy as a catalyst to it Selco Foundation Bangalore is promoting the SHG by helping and guiding the SHG with the appropriate technology and financial support to develop sustainable business model for the SHG.
India’s journey towards “Atmanirbaratha” or “Swaraj “ becomes a reality when the unsung heroes, unheard voices and underprivileged communities of this country become self-sufficient, self-reliant, and have the self-esteem to live lives like everyone else.
Hence, we request all our friends to support generously and join hands to raise the remaining ₹1,60,000 /- for this initiative of “ Sahaja Swasahaya Adivasi Mahila Sangha “.
