Please consider supporting professional rural Kattaikkuttu performers and their families to help them transcend these difficult Covid-19 times.

With no rural festivals, all Kattaikkuttu performances have come to a standstill. Professional Kattaikkuttu performers are without work and without income. As this is the 2nd year that the pandemic hits their source of income, most of them have used up their reserves.

We are looking at supporting 135 rural Kattaikkuttu actors and musicians. Our target is to raise an amount of Rs. 6,57,000 so that we can support all these artists and their families with an amount of Rs. 5,000 each. We will ensure that the artists receive this amount directly into their bank accounts.

This is a fund raising campaign on behalf of the Kattaikkuttu Sangam. The Sangam promotes Tamil Nadu's heritage theatre Kattaikkuttu (or Therukkoothu) and the cultural and economic rights of its practitioners. See also www.kattaikkuttu.org.
