Kalvi Shakti / Vidya Shakti is an initiative of OpenMentor Trust, to cater to the online education and up-skilling of the student community. Everyone can learn for free is our motto. Using technology, we try to reach every child in rural India.
- At present we operate in 89 villages in TN and 100 villages in UP (Varanasi district)
- We reach about 6000 kids in UP and about 3000 kids in TN.
- This initiative is intended to tackle the ‘knowledge gap’ created by COVID-19, between the rich/urban vs poor/rural children.
- We conduct live, online classes in mother tongue (Tamil in TN and Hindi in UP)
- The classes are focused on the fundamentals of languages, maths and science.
- We take classes for classes 5th to 12th .
- To each village, we provide a SmartTV, internet connection, microphone, appoint a center coordinator, to participate in live classes.
- We do not just "teach", but we "inspire" the kids
