Dear friends and compassionate souls,
My name is Raj Oraon, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit. I am a TISS alumni from the Guwahati Campus, and I come from the tea garden region of West Bengal. My journey has been filled with challenges, but the most pressing one right now is to support my younger sister in her time of need. She is suffering from Ovarian cysts.
My sister was trafficked for seven years in Sikkim due to our family's financial struggles. Thanks to the tireless efforts of NGOs, we were able to rescue her in 2016 and help her reconnect with her education. She is now a determined student pursuing her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Mangalore University, where she aims to make a difference in the lives of others.
Unfortunately, our family is facing a significant hurdle. My sister requires urgent medical surgery, and the costs are beyond what we can afford. We are single parent child and my mother works as a permanent laborer in a tea garden, I have been doing my best to support her while also volunteering with an Adivasi Youth Collective. Despite my efforts, I have been jobless for the past eight months, making our situation increasingly dire.
I am asking for your help to raise 70k for her surgery. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to ensuring she receives the care she desperately needs. Your kindness can make a life-changing difference for my sister and help her continue her journey toward a brighter future.
