Dear friend,

Greetings, I am writing you to tell you about my dog “ROGER”. My name is R Shridhar and I am serving in the Indian military (IAF). I own 05 pets out of which 02 are rescued from the street and now living their best life which is looked after by my old-aged parents.

This is heartbreaking, devastating news. Recently, on 28 May 21 evening, my 05 months old pup named Roger (Siberian husky) accidentally fell from the 2nd floor while he was playing. His spinal cord was broken, his Rear body is completely paralyzed and no reflexes nor feel. Immediately I rushed him to the hospital (Cessna Lifeline).

His condition was critical and complicated, after running all the tests and scans Doctor advised that he should undergo 2-3 surgeries with titanium rods implantation where the chances of success or recovery were just 20 % and it was expensive, each surgery costing Rs 70,000. The other option advised was to put him out of his misery and severe pain by letting him go peacefully to sleep by euthanasia solution.

The nature of my job is such that I stay very far from my home serving the country. Though I and my dog were companions were very less time we had powerful bonding and emotions. It was a tough call for me knowing that there is less hope of regaining his health and lead a quality life like before. The decision to end his life was never easy, I couldn’t gather the courage to let him go. I love him so much that I wanted to go with the surgery even though he just had very less chances to survive and decided to go to any extent to save him. So, I approved his surgery and further treatment.

Doctors were willing to put in the extra effort. Fortunately, prayers were answered and surgeries were successful to keep our spirits up and chances to his recovery were now 40-50%. He is still in ICU and under continuous sedation for pain suppression. Roger will take another 12 – 15 days to show the slenderest improvement with therapies and medical assistance. The bill has reached almost 2 lakhs till today (04 Jun 21) for this urgent surgery without insurance to cover it. I have paid half of the amount and struggling to pay the rest. The hospital doesn’t offer any payment plans.

Currently, I am facing an acute financial crisis. I request you to help me through this difficult time with the bills for his further treatment and help change his life. Roger is a fighter and a charming dog who wants to get up and stand strong again. Little support and prayer during this challenging time will be appreciated and we shall remain grateful for your gesture of kindness forever. I have attached his photos, reports, and bills with this letter.
