Mr. R Shankar was admitted to KIMS Hospital with a history of diabetes, heart disease, and previous medical procedures including angioplasty and a dialysis access surgery (AV fistula with insertion).
He came to the hospital on April 28, 2025, with pain, swelling, and discharge (pus) in the groin area for about a week, and reduced urine output over the past two days.
Doctors found a serious infection in the groin area (perineal abscess), along with signs of severe infection in the left leg, kidney issues, low blood count, and heart function problems. Lab tests also showed harmful bacteria in the pus from his leg.
He needed medicines to maintain blood pressure initially, but his condition improved and support was reduced gradually.
Current Treatment:
He is on breathing support.
Receiving antibiotics via IV (Meropenem, Metrogyl, Clindamycin).
Doctors are planning a surgical procedure to clean and remove the infection in his left leg.
