In Rajasthan, trees are worshiped, but in recent years, the indigenous trees of Rajasthan have been endangered due to deforestation. The trees are cut mainly to make furniture and to clear land for agriculture and urbanisation. The trees include Rohida, Babool, and especially the Khejri tree (Prosopis cineraria), which is a testament to the resilience of the Thar desert, where the women of the Bishnoi community sacrificed their lives to save the tree from the 40-year-old famine where people survived on its bark alone. This fundraiser aims at collecting money to launch workshops in Rajasthan as part of our "Sajeev Khejri," to not only spread awareness about this tree but all the trees as a whole. We also plan to plant more than 1000 more trees and, at last, create WhatsApp groups and websites where we will report any illegal activity that is happening and thus create a strong community.
