My brother, Prateek Shukla got infected with CoVID'19 in the last week of April 2021. Following a few days of home isolation, his Spo2 suddenly dropped on 8th May 2021. He was hospitalized the next day. His CT Scan reports showed 80% lungs involvement with a CT Score of 19/25. Even after putting him on the required medicines, his health deteriorated, and CT Score on 15th May rose to 25/25 with 100% lungs involvement.
Then he was on ventilator support for oxygen for around 20 days.He was administered 2-dg for his speedy recovery and progress could be noted. But due to sudden complications he had to be intubated for some hours. This event took us back to the initial stage of infection and now he is back on NIV support. Prateek was already on heavy medication due to Spondylitis & its associated complications. Due to no major recovery in the past month, we have shifted him to Bansal Hospital Bhopal, India.
He is just 27 years old with a bag full of dreams. He is a corporate employee and has planned his further studies but due to this pandemic he has been fighting for every breath for almost two months now.
I am allowed to see my brother just once in a day, barely for a few minutes. We have not talked our hearts out for months now and we do not know how far this will go.
Prateek is a very cheerful and lively person, the kind you never forget once you meet. I am waiting for the day to see him breathe without any support, walk on his own without any breathlessness, talk to us with no fear, eat whatever he wants and stay at home with us.
It has been a very tough and long time for our family, and it is going to take longer.
Coming from a humble, middle-class background, arranging money for his treatment has caused a huge financial burden on our family. So far, both the hospital bills & medication have cost us Rs. 25 Lakh and we have exhausted all our funds & savings which were planned for our further studies.
Prateek is expected to be hospitalized for more days as recommended by doctors due to the tough complications, we ask for your generous contribution in this hour of need.
