My name is Prakash Chand and I am a class 11 student from the rural town of Nanakmatta in Uttarakhand. I am an aspiring filmmaker and journalist. My family has been in serious debt for over 5 years and we have been struggling to make ends meet. I am passionate about documenting the stories of my community and today, I need your help to buy a laptop so that I can share my stories with the world.

I'm fond of filmmaking and have made two documentaries on my community. The first one is about the Gujjar community of Uttarakhand and the other is about the life of a fisherman. I shoot and edit the movies on my mobile phone. My work requires me to manage data, document and write stories of the villagers, record and edit videos and audios, and attend online classes. Without a proper laptop and editing software, I find it very hard to authentically document the powerful narratives I see around me.

Along with filmmaking, I am also interested in ground reporting and collecting stories from my community and have written stories for the People's Archive Of Rural India (PARI) where I am an intern. I'm also a Kids Education Revolution (KER) Fellow at Teach for India, where I'm working on my leadership skills to rebuild the education system of India. I am also a recipient of the INSPIRE Scholarship by the  Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
