Rural recharge - a project to support our rural communities
As Samarpana completes two magnificent years, we wish to accomplish something that goes beyond individuals and extends to an entire community. We have hence decided to embark on a dream project - Adopt a village for a period of at least 3 years and create longstanding change for the people of this community.
A village in Panrutti Taluk located in the Cuddalore district is the one that really needs our attention, support and empathy. The people of this village belong to rural tribe and are ostracized from the rest of the village. This community has been subjected to constant social isolation. Due to lack of the most basic access to water, sanitation, education etc this community suffers every single day.
Their problems are complex and wide ranging. Open defecation, alcohol addiction, bonded labour, meager incomes, dilapidated housing, societal concerns are just some of the few.
We are not exaggerating when we say that the situation of these men, women and children will break your hearts. It shattered ours.
There are 64 families living in 23 houses. Through rural recharge we aim to turn around this village to the best of our ability by providing access to education, financial support, village developmental work, holistic development by exposure to our rich art forms, creation of employment opportunities and much more.
We are also arranging a counsellor for the people to motivate them, make them aware and hear them out. Counselling will also be arranged for parent-less children, children with parents suffering from alcoholism, awareness for young children regarding abuse, sex education etc. Vocational training include jewellery making, potli making, basket weaving and tailoring etc.
For phase 1 of rural outreach for this village, Rs. 11,00,000 is required.

Virtual class set up ( projector, TV, webcam) - 40,000

Sports equipment - 15,000
