Our Situation
Paritosh, my husband, is a doting son to his mother, a loving husband to me, and a caring father to our 14-year-old son. We have lived a simple, content life in a small town in Odisha, India. We did not have extravagant desires and were happy in our small world.
However, our lives changed drastically when Paritosh lost his contractual job during COVID. Despite his efforts to find stable work, he only managed temporary jobs. I work as a teacher at a local school, but our income has been insufficient. My father-in-law supported us financially until his passing three years ago. One year after his death, Paritosh was diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease.
Since then, we have had countless doctor visits, medical investigations, hospital admissions, and multiple transfusions. Paritosh’s health steadily declined, and since July 2023, the deterioration has been relentless.
On December 17, 2024, Paritosh collapsed with sharp pain in both groin and thighs. He was given painkillers, but within two days, his condition worsened significantly. He lost consciousness and was admitted to the ICU on December 21, 2024, with encephalopathy and fractures in both hips and one vertebra.
The doctors have now said that a liver transplant is his only hope. I have undergone medical evaluation and have been cleared as a potential donor.
Our Financial Need
The liver transplant surgery will cost Rs. 25,00,000 (Rs. 25 lakhs). Post-surgery, medications, follow-up investigations for one year, and dedicated caregivers for both Paritosh and me will cost an additional Rs. 10,00,000 (Rs. 10 lakhs).
Last week, the surgeon informed us that a cadaveric liver would be the best option for Paritosh. However, transporting the organ in a chartered flight will cost another Rs. 10,00,000 (Rs. 10 lakhs).
Additionally, both hip joints will need to be replaced after the liver transplant. Post-surgery monthly expenses are estimated at Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per month.
In total, we need to raise Rs. 45,00,000 (Rs. 45 lakhs) to cover all expenses.
