*UPDATE ~ 25 MAY, 2021*
We want to thank you all for the amazing support we have received over the last few days to reach our initial goal of INR 5,00,000. We are really grateful for the way the community has come forward to assist in this goal. We would like to utilize this momentum  and increase the scope of our fundraiser to include support for girl students whose education has been severely affected. Please share, thank you.

The original fundraiser has been allocated in the following ways -

We are aiding oxygen requirements/COVID-19 resources in two District hospitals and with Registered Medical Practitioners (RMP) - which includes oxygen cylinders, latex gloves, oximeters, PPE kits, N-95 masks.

A portion of the fund is allocated for ration distribution to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families within COVID-19 affected districts.

A final part of the fund is reserved for healthcare kits for families which includes sanitisers, sanitary napkins, N-95 masks. These kits will be distributed to families in COVID-19 hotspot neighbourhoods in Uttar Pradesh.

 *END OF ALLOCATION*

The new increase in goal amount is with the realisation that COVID-19 has impacted in several ways other than medical needs, one of which is the field of education. COVID-19 has disrupted the livelihoods of families, a large impact of which is on the education of the girl child- they are the first ones to be removed from schools/colleges. We are identifying networks which can help us reach women, girls and trans persons from marginalized families whose education have been affected by the pandemic. We are aiming to fulfill govt school/college fees between 5000 INR - 10,000 INR per student identified. In that way, we will be able to assist between 15-20 students.

Rural Uttar Pradesh is seeing a massive increase in COVID-19 positive cases in the month of April 2021.  There are villages in Uttar Pradesh which either do not have Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) or the PHC is currently not equipped to treat COVID-19 positive patients.

I am from the village of Majhola in district Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. The nearest health care center for the people of the village is in either in Bahjoi (8kms) or Chandausi (12kms). The government run centres are overburdened with patients at the moment and are facing an acute oxygen shortage. This also means people are either self medicating or not going to the hospitals for care, out of fear of dying.

Our goal is three fold -

1. To provide the health care centres in Bahjoi and Sambhal with Oxygen concentrators and cylinders.
2. To provide oxygen kits to frontline worker, sanitizers and N-95 masks.
3. To assist in the vaccination program with the local Common Service Centre(CSC).

With your contribution we will be able to buy  concentrators and atleast 10 cylinders. I have the support of the Pradhan of the village Majhola who is assisting in resource allocation. For assurance, you can contact him to understand the situation. I can give you the contact if you need.
