Provide Oxygen Concentrators to Patients in Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR and other locations
Background:
India becomes the first country in the world to record 3.5 lakh cases in 24 hours, with recorded death toll rising to 2,806. This has led to the World Health Organization (WHO) Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus commenting on the deteriorating COVID-19 situation in India who said that the current crisis is a 'devastating reminder' of what the virus can do. Due to the rising cases of COVID-19, the healthcare system is overburdened and a lot of patients are not able to get hospital beds, Oxygen supply, and other supplies on time, which is leading to the rising death toll. This devastating second wave of coronavirus in India has seen hospitals getting overwhelmed with rising number of COVID-19 patients, leading to widespread shortages of bed, oxygen and other supplies. The country now has the greatest demand for oxygen out of all other low, lower-middle and upper-middle-income countries, according to the PATH Oxygen Needs Tracker.
Solution:
Following is a 4-layered solution that NF proposes to address the urgent COVID-19 crisis. Support from the funder for any or all of these projects will be of immense important at such tough time for India.
1. Provide Oxygen Concentrators to Patients in Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, etc.
COVID-19 cases are rising in India, and a lot of critical patients are not able to get the required Oxygen supply on time. Primary reason of death is observed to be lack of Oxygen supply for most of the patients. Hence, NF proposes to provide Oxygen Concentrators to critical patients in Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR and any other location in India.
Following are estimated the features of the Oxygen Concentrator NF will give to patients in need:-

Location:
Maharashtra and Delhi-NCR are struggling with the high number of COVID-19 patients and high number of deaths. Hospitals and healthcare system in these locations are overwhelmed by the number of critical patients and this project can become a helping hand in improving the situation.
There are other states in India that are also worse affected by the pandemic, and based on the availability of resources NF will implement this project in these locations too. Such as- Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, etc.
Duration: May 2021 to July 2021 (3 months)
Target Audience:
1. COVID-19 Patients or Patients with COVID-19 critical symptoms
2. Patients with Doctor’s Prescription to take Oxygen Supply
3. COVID-19 Patients with a proof of dropped Oxygen Rate (Proof: Picture of Oximeter Reading of the patient)
Implementation Plan:
Following is the proposed timeline of this project:-
Week 1 - Procure Oxygen Concentrators and Place them in centres
(NF already has the suppliers ready and also have its own centres for storing these Oxygen Concentrators)
Week 2 - Spread awareness about the availability of Oxygen Concentrators through Social Media Campaign and through our Students Network.
- Start taking enquiries of Covid-19 patients and check their neediness
- Start loaning out Oxygen Concentrators, after collecting relevant ID proofs
Week 3 to Week 12 - Continue spreading awareness about the availability of Oxygen Concentrators through Social Media Campaign and through our Students Network.
- Continue enquiries of Covid-19 patients and check their neediness
- Continue loaning out Oxygen Concentrators to needy patients, after collecting relevant ID proofs
Project End
Week 12 - Collect all the Oxygen Concentrators
- Review the situation and plan for continuation of the program if the need persists
