Nazia Begum, a domestic help in Kolkata’s Ballygunje is  not the favourite child of destiny.   Hailing from a poor family, marginalised of the marginalised, she has always faced hardships and has yet remained strong. Married off at young age , she found herself in a abusive marriage and when the man left her, she had nothing but her three daughters. She stood firm and tried to start afresh by marrying Raja, who lived in Ballygunje . She works  hard as a domestic help to raise her six daughters, three of which are school going and tries to make them independent. She cooks and cleans and tries to put some food and some comfort on the table.
But last week, while working she fell off on the marble floor and broke her elbow bone. With Corona cases rising and no medical help available, she had to wait two days in immense pain before she could get operated . The doctors have put a silicon rod in her hand, so that her hand function can be resumed. Operation and medical bill would cost around 95000 rs.
They are a poor family with no resources. They deserve our help and concern.
