    This fundraiser will benefit

    Narayan Kumar

    from Noida, Uttar Pradesh

My name is Narayan Kumar from Chabura [Konch, Gaya, Bihar (India)] and I have been offered admission into Master in Marine Technology  (Hydrodynamics for Ocean Engineering) at prestigious Ecole Centrale Nantes (France).

I have been a meritorious student since childhood. But finanicng eduaction been always difficult for my family. Thanks for Goverment funded Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jethian (Gaya) where I studied till 12th standardThen I got selected for IIT/ AIEEE Engineering exams preparation at Triveni Super-30 (Patna) of Ex-DGP of Bihar Abhyanand.

I am the first graduate in my unprivileged, destitute, orthodox and conservative family, even in my rural village (in engineering stream) too to qualified for the prestigious  IIT-JEE (Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Exam) extended merit list (Still my Innocent and non matriculate father think and  I cleared ITI, not IIT) and also scored a decent AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) rank.

Based on the extended Merit list of IIT Engineering Exam Rank, I Got selected for TS Chankya (Marine) but lack of funds again came on the way and I missed to book the TS Chankya (Marine) seat. Then some issue in the Online counselling process for the NIT, I missed my preferred NIT seats too.

But my passion for Engineering always defied all odds. I decided to give another attempt for AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination), but lack of fund was on way. So worked at Hotel for few months as waiter, then gave tution for kids in all over Patna by walking 20kms a day to arrange living expanses .

Finally next attempt brought relief . I scored AIEEE rank  decent enough to get into NITS. So joined NIT Agartala through Biomedical Engineering.  Then based on my 1st year peformance, my branch were promoted to Mechanical Engineering.

I  have maintained an excellent academic score of 8.85/10 CGPA at the National Institue of Technology, Agartala (Tripura) in Mechanical Engineering. Along with that I was involved in the various events ranging from Robotics to RELIABILITY ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT.

I am highly interested in research that's the main reason to pursue my Master's. Ecole Centrale Nantes (France) is the pioneer in the field of Hydrodynamics/fluid dynamics/offshore renewable energy (my research interest).

During my bachelor's at NIT Agartala, I had secured two environmental R&D sponsored projects funding from the Institution of Engineers (IEI) which shows my tremendous research ability. I have also worked on numerous research projects ranging from the efficiency of Sovenious Vertical wind turbines and CFD.

Hence, the reason behind choosing Ecole Centrale Nantes (France) because it is one of the best research Institutes in areas of my interest (Hydrodynamics/Fluid mechanics) and it was cheaper compared to other universities. Of course, by tuition fee, wise Germany was cheaper but I missed the deadlines for them.

The reasons why I am forced to raise funds through crowdfunding:

1. Family Situations:
My father is a small marginalized farmer ( he is with me in the photo above). I have lost my mother at a very early age. and this pandemic has made the situation worse.

 2. Eduction loan
I am unable to get an education loan since Bank asks for collateral security for above 4 lakhs (e.g, FD, Plot in urban areas, etc) for this very amount.

3. Scholarships
I have received numerous Master's admission offer this year from UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, etc, and similarly applied for the various scholarships. But unfortunately, I am unable to get into the scholarship list like the Charpak scholarship despite my well-round score and co-curricular activities.

4. Salary from Jobs
I am the first working member of my family and working since July 2016 approx 5 years. My salary at the start was 28k month (INR) and my present salary is 36k per month INR (refer to the attachments).
During my bachelor's, I took an education loan work 3.6 lakhs (INR) to pursue my B Tech at NIT Agartala, during my first two years of job, I paid my full education loan with interest worth 4.2 lakhs(INR).
Later, my family didn't have even enough basic living amenities like a Handpump, Latrine, and neither 1 room of Pakka House too. So the salary of my few years went into fulfilling those basic amenities.

Conclusion:
However, my total study cost is 17 lakhs (INR)and I am able to pull around 7 lakhs (INR)  from my family and personal resources (salary and etc). But I badly needed 10 lakhs (INR) to secure an admission seat at Ecole Centrale (France) and also for the French Visa requirements.
Below are estimated expenses during my course.
Plus
Visa fee: 20k INR
Flights: 40k INR
Extra Student Services Charges & Miscellaneous: 40k INR
which comes close to 1lakh INR too.

Of course, I have planned to fund my living fee through part-time jobs (if possible) but due to the high amount of tuition fee and Prerequisite fund requirements to show the funding of living expenses plus tuition fees for a year during visa application, I need your help to achieve my longstanding dream to pursue research in France.

Therefore, I would humbly request you to help/support me to the best of your capacity and share my story with your friends and family. Your tiny support can change my life and inspire a boy from a destitute and low economical class family to dream bigger and of course higher.

Please don't forget even a single penny matters and it will act as a catalyst to my dream.

Thank you in advance
