Hello, We are Nanda and Shailesh. I am 62 years old, and my son, who identifies himself as queer, is 26 years. We both live together and are dependent on each other. He is the sole breadwinner for the family of two.
In 2017, Dec I was diagnosed with Facial Paralysis and had to get admitted under a neurosurgeon's supervision. I had my MRI done, and it reported a start of blood clotting in my brain. But thankfully, everything was taken care of on time I started recovering. Since then, I am on routine checkups, blood tests, body checkups, etc.
About my son, he was under psychiatric treatment since 2014. He was born queer but accepting alternative sexuality is still taboo in a country like India. He went under for therapy and had started his medication for anxiety and depression since then.
Recently he got diagnosed with ADHD, alertness issues. For the past year, he is on medication for that too. He does his routine visit to his doctor and therapist.
And now the pandemic has happened. For the second time, the virus has crushed thousands of many. And in that, we also got crushed.
He completed his graduation last year, in October 2020, and he wishes to continue his studies; he has applied for a Master's from Indira Gandhi National Open University. He hopes to complete his Master's and then go for the NET exam to pursuing a Ph.D. in English.

Meanwhile, he is trying his best to earn; he takes a commission for customized portraits, teaches local students at a minimal price, and tries to survive.
He also wishes to look up the beautician course of proceeding in that area for a backup plan if the Ph.D. thing doesn't work out for him because of his ADHD. Also, possibly he will try to do something in the area of graphic designing. Anything that comes in handy to him could be helpful for us to survive in the long run.
How far our fundraising will last and how much we could manage to collect is very unpredictable. I have crossed the age of going out for work, and my son used to work for private classes part-time, and that is how we managed to cope. But with a pandemic, second wave, and no answer to when everything will come to a halt is confusing and difficult for us. We need to buy groceries, medicines, and study material for my son's studies.
He is trying his best to get anything to work out for us, but we need your support and contribution. Anything which you could spare for us will be beneficial. Would you please keep us in your prayers?
