I am asking for your help for my mother Mrs Prema Andrews. She was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in May 2021 and was undergoing chemotherapy till December 2021. She underwent an autologous (own stem cells) bone marrow transplant on 16th December 2021.

On 24th December, a code blue situation arose where her oxygen saturation went down to 30 and was rushed to the ICU from the bone marrow transplant unit, and after a few days, it got subsided with the success of the transplant.

She was moved to a stepdown ICU room but unfortunately, after two days she developed secondary HLH and acute pancreatitis and had to be again shifted back to the ICU with a high-grade fever of 106 on December 31 due to secondary graft rejection.

The fever was contained in the next few days but her blood count continued to drop and a bone marrow biopsy indicated hypocellular condition. This is a very rare scenario in an autologous transplant where a graft rejection occurred and the marrow is no longer producing any cells.

Currently, she is fighting all the infections without the WBC and platelets. As a last resort, another bone marrow transplant is needed for her to reverse and fight this condition with supportive high-cost medicines.

She is still in ICU and critical. It's been more than a month since being admitted with all complications. The insurance cover had already been exhausted, post which all savings and loans have been used up so far taking the overall cost to 40 lakhs. To continue with the bone marrow transplant, which is the last hope for my mother it would cost another 30 lakhs. We're now running short on funds to continue further and need your help.
