My name is Monica Raju. I am a student at NIFT Kolkata and I have finished my 2nd semester. I am facing a huge financial gap due to the sudden demise of my mother. We lost her to COVID in 2021. She was the breadwinner of our family. She was working as a nurse in the Covid ward and had been suffering from diabetes for a very long time, which had severely impacted her kidneys too. On May 5th, 2021, we admitted her as she had become weak and lost consciousness. She passed away on May 13th, and during the time she was admitted to the hospital, she also contacted COVID-19. Due to COVID-19 protocols, we weren’t able to give her last burial rites. Hardly had we been able to recover from this trauma, then the other bad news hit us.
Later on, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and he passed away last month. Most of our resources were utilised in my father's treatment, and whatever is left is not enough to help me and my younger sister continue with our studies. I am in the middle of my post-grad and I do not wish to quit when only one year is left. My younger sister and I live in a rented house. We do not have any such property, and the resources we have now are being used to pay for rent and some basic expenses. It is impossible for me to take an education loan to support my education and my sister’s education too.
I was very excited about taking up the MFM course last year, and I had asked my mother if she would be able to support me, and she had done everything in her power to support us girls in our studies. However, due to these circumstances, I am unable to keep up with the academics. I still have two more semesters to go. The fees for both the semesters total up to 3,10,000 INR. I have been a consistent student and very hard-working, and even in these situations I have tried to put all my inputs into my studies while dealing with the external factors. I am requesting every bit of support that you can provide me in order to help me complete this course so I can secure a job at least to support myself and my sister. I am well optimistic of your support and guidance.
Kindly consider my plea.
