The situation that started last year with the onset of lockdown has completed its year-long circle and has been confronting us with even greater force. Last year the students of our indigenous Chakma community partook in the physical form of education but only for four months of the year. The rest of the year they were devoid of education because of the Lack of Digital Infrastructure in the village. Currently, the situation has become even worse with no form of silver lining when it comes to the reopening of the schools.
The community that we are working with sustains themselves with Jhum Cultivation as their primary family occupation. The average monthly income of a family ranges from 5000rs to 7000rs making it very difficult for them to afford a digital device to continue their online studies.
My students have been promoted to 10th standard, making their learning even more imperative considering their board exams this year. We have 42 students in the class, of which 13 have digital access to continue their learning. However, 29 of our students don’t have a digital device or the means to buy one. This means if we don’t do something they will either drop out to sustain themselves by working or will not receive any instruction till the situation of pandemic normalize.
The cost to buy one Lenovo Tablet is 7,900rs(inclusion of transportation cost) making the total cost around 2,29,000rs.

Hence, here I am as a teacher, friend, guardian, and believer in the Power of Collective Action. I am imploring for your support to empower the students of the community that is invisible from the mainland part of India.
I believe in you and that “Mohabbat Karne Vale Kam Nahi Honge.” Please extend your support to the remotest part of India.
Ps: If you need more information please contact me without any hesitation. I will also be sending the impact reports to donors periodically without any lapse.
