    Mita Roy

    from Kolkata, West Bengal

My name is Rahul Roy, and I am from a small village called Bonpas Kamarpara in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal. On the 27th of August, 2024, my world turned upside down when my mother Mita Roy was involved in a tragic accident. She has always been the backbone of our family—strong, loving, and full of life. But now, she is fighting for her own.
My mother underwent two emergency brain surgeries—decompressive craniectomy in which doc has cut the skull and removed that—to relieve pressure caused by extensive brain swelling and bleeding in Frontal and cerebellum area. She spent 20 days in a coma after the surgery. Watching her lie there, lifeless and still, was the most heartbreaking experience of my life. Now, she is slowly starting to open her eyes, but our journey is far from over, she is to go through long term physiotherapy and medication to regain the daily life activities with the limited good neurones that she has.
The cost of her medical treatment is more than I could ever imagine. The hospital bills have already crossed ₹9 lakhs, and now she needs continuous nursing care at home for her tracheostomy, which will cost around ₹3 lakhs a month for at least 6 months. On top of that, she will need another surgery, a cranioplasty in which the doctor will replace the skulls, in a few months, which will cost an additional ₹4 to ₹5 lakhs.
I am the only person in my family who earns. My father is elderly, and my younger brother is still studying. I have already sold everything I have, and now I have nothing left to give except my plea for help. I simply cannot do this alone. I cannot save my mother without you.
She has always been a fighter, not just for herself, but for others. Through her small beauty parlour courses, she has empowered many women to become financially independent, teaching them the skills to stand on their own feet. Now, I need your help to give her the chance to continue being the light that she is.
This is the most difficult time of my life, and I am begging for your support. Any amount you can contribute will help give my mother the care she desperately needs. Please help me bring her back to us. She is our world, and with your kindness, we can give her the chance to live, heal, and return to the strong, beautiful woman she has always been.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your generosity and prayers.
