Project Qadira is a non-profit organization that makes reusable sanitary napkins. Girl Up Tricity is an organization that empowers women. Together we are arranging a sanitary pad drive for menstruators in marginalized areas of Chandigarh and educating them about the same.
India is a country that is said to be the most dangerous country for women. Girl Up Tricity wants to make the change. We want to make a change to end period poverty. We have joined our hands together with Project Qadira for the empowerment of our mothers, sisters, and daughters. Project Qadira is an initiative by a team of impact-driven young minds and aims to provide biodegradable, reusable, affordable, and easy-to-use Sanitary pads for women mainly belonging to rural areas and low-income earning backgrounds of the country. We also intend on leaving scope for women empowerment through employment opportunities given to rural women-in-need and specially-abled women as well as reasonable pay. The project is extremely inclusive and promotes the idea of safe, hygienic, and environment-friendly menstrual products while educating women and eradicating the existing myths and taboos in the process.
The funds collected will be used for material procurement, production of the sanitary pads and will cover manufacturing costs. The amount per kit is approximately 200 INR (includes manufacturing) and the campaign would benefit atleast 100 menstruators.
