Nazaria Arts Collective is a grassroots organisation that works at the intersection of digital arts education, media democracy, and social justice in Mumbai. We provide 21st-century digital arts training and social justice education to marginalized youth and women in low-income neighborhoods in Mumbai.
Through community media labs, artist residencies, and educational programs in visual arts, photography, and filmmaking, Nazaria equips marginalized youth and women with the skills, mentorship, and platforms to unlock their creative potential, cultivate greater agency, and emerge as voices of change in their community

About the Fundraiser

Nazaria aims to launch (Re)Imagine - a Narrative Filmmaking Programme for creatively inclined youth in the vibrant low-income community of Shankarwadi. Over 6 months, 15 aspiring storytellers will be taken through a series of intensive workshops in screenwriting, cinematography, production, and editing, while exploring the larger theme of (Re)Imagining.

The programme is grounded in Nazaria’s ReImagine Curriculum which weaves together practical film training with social justice and future literacy modules, empowering Youth Participants to use digital storytelling as a tool to envision and advocate for a more just and free world.

The  (Re)Imagine programme commences in June 2024 and will culminate in March 2025, by the end of the program, the cohort will have created 4 short films reflecting their transgressive reimaginings of gender, education, and power in India today. These films will be screened widely across schools, colleges, and communities across India.

We need your support to bring this programme to life. Your sponsorship will give low-income aspiring filmmakers in Shankarwadi access to 12 workshops with professional filmmakers, 3 exposure visits to studios and galleries, a basic film equipment kit, and funds to produce their own short film.

We recognize that not everyone is able to make large donations and welcome donations of all value. Every little bit counts! To learn more about Nazaria and ways to get involved, please reach out at us@nazariacollective.in.

The Fundraiser is organised by Bhasha Centre for Performing Arts.
