Manohar Lal (age 54), who previously worked as a street vendor in Delhi, has been battling one health issue after the other for more than six months now. After recovering from a severe case of COVID-19 in late 2020, he had to undergo aortic surgery in January 2021. Doctors have now discovered a 9 mm stone in his bladder. He is critical and needs an urgent medical procedure to remove the stone. Currently, his condition is deteriorating rapidly.

While Manohar was ill, his wife and two sons (aged 20 and 25) took up street vending as a means of livelihood. However they have now been severely hit by the lockdown with the markets being shut, and are all currently unemployed. They have no income at all, and no savings to rely on either.

In this financially precarious situation, the family has to take on yet another significant medical expenditure for the bladder stone removal. The urologist has estimated the cost of the surgery at Rs 55,000. An initiative called Mazdoor Kitchen has generously donated Rs. 10,000 towards Manohar's treatment. However, the family is still short of Rs. 45,000, with time running out.

No one should have to lose access to healthcare because of lack of money, and we appeal to the community to come together and help Manohar Lal receive the medical care he needs to live.
